Today has been........
by desib77 ina horrible, horrible day..... i hope you don't mind me venting a little...... to start out, i've been sick for two weeks now with bronchitis that i can't seem to get rid of......so i've been feeling really bad.
today is my second visit to the dr. and i found out that i'm asthmatic so i haven't been able to get over this...the dr. told me the wheezing and coughing spells that i've had are making it hard for me to get rid of all the congestion.. at lunch one of our cars breaks down and we have to have it towed to get fixed.
then it ends up costing a lot to get it fixed..... to top all of this off, since i was sick today i worked from home on a day that i would normally travel and hour and go into the office.

Astronomy: Three Dates: A Young Witness
by Duncan inso, taking those title elements in reverse order: the young witness is me ?
this story goes back to the early sixties.
the three dates are: february 1986, august 11th 1999, and june 8th 2004. it's the fact that the last of those dates is , after all these years, finally nearly here that made me think of writing this post.

Hubby is in the cable biz and I read the "cabl bar". "The Meat Grinder" is a JW. I had not read much of his posts but today I was looking at alot of his old posts when I realized he was a JW. He had invited everyone to the memorial. He talked about 607. He stated that the NWT was the best bible because it was translated by the F&DS. He lives in Little Rock, AK. I'm guessing he counts his time preaching on the cable bar.
Anyone thats good at this sort of thing and wants alittle fun care to go and dispute some of his teachings? check out all his posts. Have FUN!
By the way....Most cable people (lineman) would be considered BAD association.

Which was scarier... the torture scenario or the Armageddon scenario?
by Gopher infor those of us who grew up in the jw's, there were a couple of scary scenarios presented, one supposedly to happen before armageddon, and armageddon itself.. before armageddon, all jw's were going to be chased around by worldly nations because they would be the only religion left on earth, satan's system having destroyed "babylon the great" (all religions outside jw's, we were told).
so as part of that, jw's would be persecuted worldwide for being religious and proclaiming the "kingdom".. now -- connect that with the actual persecution that happened to the jw's as documented in the annual "yearbook" and in the pages of the watchtower magazine.
sometimes the details of what happened to jw's when in confinement were quite graphic and frightening.

First off........(((((((((((To all the little terrified children, big and small)))))))))))))
It all scared me to death. I was in early grade school at a volatile time in history. We had the very real scare of the Atomic Bomb, Vietnam, Malawi, and the Cuban Missile Crisis. My Grandmother was in on the letter writing campaigns to the African governments for Malawi. I heard all the torture stories of women and children. I knew I could not withstand torture. Looking back the witnesses were just using Malawi as a scare tactic. Turns out you didn't have to be a JW in Africa to be tortured, just a black African.
I knew I could never be good enough for God for me to survive Armageddon. I was doomed because I knew God could read my heart and he knew I hated him for being so mean, I could not love him. I could not stand the thought of all the death and destruction at his hands.
I WAS tortured (mentally) well into adulthood even though I physically walked away at 18. I have since found the loving God I always knew him in my heart to be. My ultimate revenge was to vow never to offer up one of my children to the vengeful God I was raised on, they were never touched by the fear and torment that was my life for 18 years. Thanks to this forum the cloud of fear I carried all those years is gone. I am Free. Thank you all.

((((Washerless Sheila)))) & ((((Pillowless Thunder)))) I hope none of that got into the plumbing pipes what a mess.
Sunnygal, I know the smell. I had a stove once that a rat decided to live in and stock with dry dog food. I tried for a week to catch him with no luck. I heard him in there once and thought it would be a good idea to turn the oven on to force him out. The only thing it forced out was me. The smell was unbearable. I immediatly bought a new stove. I said a little pray for the scavangers that took the old stove on garbage night. Decaying corpe or burning pee? Toss up!

Finding serenity after leaving the JWs
by NaruNaruChan intonight was such an interesting and profound night for me.
i went to class... well, specifically a class that i enjoy a great deal... with a professor who has inspired me since i began college...
so i'm sitting there, listening to him lecture, watching him walk back and forth across the stage with this huge projection of the u.s. territories in the background... and for the first time in what seems like ages, my soul spoke to me.
